Rev. Janice Davis Steele Esquire
Rev. Janice Davis Steele is a founding member and principal of the law firm of Davis & Steele. She founded the
firm in 1999. Prior to founding Davis & Steele, Rev. Steele practiced in the law firm of McKenna & Cuneo, L.L.P.,
where she was an associate from 1984-1993, and a partner from 1994-1999.
From 1997 to 1999, she served as General Counsel to the Maryland/District of Columbia Minority Supplier
Development Council. She also represented several individuals in the grand jury and congressional investigations
concerning alleged transfers of technology to the People’s Republic of China.
Rev. Steele has lectured frequently on government contract issues and Year 2000 issues, and has participated as
a speaker in continuing legal education programs and government contract-related conferences. Most recently, in
June 1999, Rev. Steele served as a co-moderator in the Defense Supply Service – Washington Annual Small
Business Conference and Exposition. She also served as a member of the faculty in the 3rd National Conference
for Women Government Contract Professionals, sponsored by Business Development Associates. In November
1999, Rev. Steele was a member of the faculty for the National Contract Management Association’s Annual Small
Business Symposium. In February 2000, she received the Black Woman of Courage Award for Corporate/Legal
Achievement from the National Federation of Black Women Business Owners. Other honorees that received this
award along with her were Cicely Tyson and Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
Rev. Steele received her B.S. in Economics and Administration & Management Science in 1981 from Carnegie-
Mellon University (with honors), and her J.D. in 1984 from the University of Michigan.
Rev. Steele teaches a Lunchtime Bible study at the IMF. She is one of the several Wednesday Night Bible Study
teachers at WMM. She has authored a book on faith entitled “It’s Time to Stretch,“ and ministers the Word of God in
churches in the Washington, DC area.
Rev. Janice Davis Steele is married to Eric Steele and they have two children, Eric II, and Kendall Samara.
